How can I help my child be successful in band?
Here are some suggestions you can do to help your child be successful.
- Provide as good an instrument as you can reasonably afford.
- Provide a safe place to keep the instrument.
- Recognize that most students do not practice on their own…they usually have to be reminded. Students are encouraged to practice 30 minutes or more daily.
- Help your child arrange a regular time for at-home practice and see that your child sticks to it. Parents need to do this most of all. Daily practice is the key to success … same time, same place … and daily.
- Show an interest in your child’s practice, study, and band membership.
- Be generous in your praise and encouragement.
